Prof. Hafid Ait-Oufella recognized and honored by the French Academy of Sciences

Paris, November 26, 2024 – Prof. Hafid Ait-Oufella, Chief Scientific Officer at Polygon Therapeutics, has been awarded the prestigious 2024 Lamonica Prize in Cardiology by the French Academy of Sciences.  

Each year, the French Academy of Sciences recognizes excellence in both fundamental and applied scientific research through a variety of awards. The Lamonica Prize, created in 2009 by the Fondation pour la Recherche Biomédicale, specifically honors groundbreaking work in the field of cardiovascular science.  

Prof. Ait-Oufella has received this honor in recognition of his innovative research on the role of immune response mechanisms in the development and complications of cardiovascular diseases.

This distinction comes at a time when Prof. Ait-Oufella’s work in cardio-immunology is gaining increasing attention. In September 2024, one of his recent discoveries was published in the prestigious journal Nature, further solidifying his reputation as a leading researcher in the field.

Prof. Hafid Ait-Oufella is Co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer at Polygon Therapeutics.

In addition to his role at Polygon, Hafid splits his time between his position as a Cardiologist & Intensivist at Saint-Antoine Hospital (AP-HP) and as the Head of the Research Team U970 "Immuno-metabolic mechanisms of cardiovascular diseases" at Inserm PARCC.

He is a world-leading researcher in the innovative field of cardio-immunology.
